We have an immediate opening for an experienced HVAC Service Manager to lead HVAC technicians to install, maintain and repair our clients HVAC systems. As an HVAC Service Manager, you must routinely collaborate closely with technicians, dispatchers, and other supervisors to ensure customer loyalty while achieving departmental objectives and goals. Managers often communicate directly with customers, vendors, and suppliers to provide accurate information on job status and needs. The Service Manager must serve as a representative of the company.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and leads the technicians to effectively perform the duties of equipment repair, maintenance, installation, start-up, operation, and other duties as required to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provides technical support for the field technicians to meet service demands and customer expectations.
  • Reviews field technicians work to verify quality meets established company standards, techniques and safety protocol; makes recommendations to improve quality and productivity.
  • Work closely with the dispatch team to ensure technicians are being scheduled properly by skill level, efficiency, and training requirements.
  • Manage technician on-call schedule and ensure after-hour calls are run in a timely manner, in line with company policy.
  • Adopt company systems, procedures and processes and implement continual training to teach and hold technicians accountable.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires and trains technicians as required to meet workload demands and company or customer expectations and requirements.
  • Coordinates team and one-on-one meetings with technicians as required for training, evaluation and general communication; participates and/or conducts regularly scheduled departmental safety and/or informational meetings.
  • Institute and maintain a regular training program to ensure technicians are properly trained on the latest service techniques and safety procedures for equipment and overall working conditions.
  • Conduct technician performance appraisals and reviews and establish improvement goals per company requirements.
  • Communicates regularly with the dispatch team regarding project information, estimated time to complete jobs, labor hours and parts or materials used.
  • Maintains communication with vendors concerning warranty claims/issues, product recall notifications, operational problems with products, premature failures and other issues as they apply to products and equipment sold, installed and/or serviced by the Installation or Service departments.
  • Regularly reviews technician work orders for accuracy and verify company processes and expectations are met.
  • Works together with warehouse Manager to make sure all required parts and equipment are ordered in a timely manner to ensure job commitments and deadlines are met.
  • Develop and manage budgets, goals, and objectives to ensure departmental profitability.
  • Hold technicians accountable to company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversees company vehicles assigned to service technicians; monitors vehicles to ensure they are being maintained and operated according to company policy.
  • Oversees Warehouse Manager to ensure company fleet is properly maintained and in acceptable condition to allow staff to effectively and efficiently carry out their daily responsibilities for the company.
  • Keeps current with latest factory/industry training on current products. Coordinates technician training and maintains training records to ensure personnel maintains proficiency in preventative maintenance, repair, start-up, installation, trouble-shooting, and overall operation of supported equipment.
  • Generate and manage sales leads opportunities identified by service and/or maintenance technicians; train and enforce company conversion procedure.
  • Promote and train company maintenance agreement program; conduct regular meetings with technicians to track and record department goals and expectations.
  • Work with other department leaders to meet company and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Other tasks and duties as required to maintain efficient and profitable department operations and goals.
HVAC Service Manager Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Exhibit an in-depth knowledge and understanding of HVAC systems operation.
  • 5+ years HVAC service/maintenance experience.
  • Understanding of advanced principles of heating and air conditioning.
  • Some post high school education from trade school, college or military.
  • Reliable, self-motivated team player.
  • Excellent verbal, written, leadership and conflict management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, and holidays as/if required.
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record and background.
  • Have a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
  • Good computer, tablet (iPad), and cellular phone skills.
  • Attention to detail and highly organized.
Compensation: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
